Credentials matter, especially when a company asks clients to trust it with hiring, workforce planning, or government contracting support. They show that somebody outside the company has verified something important about who you are or how you operate.

They are not a substitute for doing good work. They are part of the trust picture.

A quick update on SDVOSB certification

An older version of this article referred to CVE-SDVOSB verification through the Department of Veterans Affairs. The federal certification process changed.

Responsibility for veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned small business certification moved from the VA's Center for Verification and Evaluation to the U.S. Small Business Administration in January 2023.

Today, the SBA Veteran Small Business Certification program, commonly called VetCert, is the federal certification path for SDVOSBs seeking qualifying federal set-aside and sole-source opportunities. Mission Box Solutions operates as an SBA-certified SDVOSB.

Virginia Values Veterans

MBS also participates in Virginia Values Veterans, or V3. The Commonwealth program helps employers build stronger practices for recruiting, hiring, and retaining veterans.

That is especially meaningful to us because MBS is veteran-led and veteran employment has always been part of our history.

The values matter more when nobody is grading you

A certification can be checked. Values are harder. They show up in how quickly you return a call, whether you tell a client something they do not want to hear, whether you own a mistake, and whether you do what you said you would do when the work gets difficult.

At MBS, the principles we keep coming back to are straightforward: deliver on commitments, act with integrity, communicate clearly and quickly, compete hard, stay focused on solutions, and keep improving.

What that means to a client

  • You will know what we committed to deliver.

  • You will hear about problems before they become surprises.

  • You will get an honest point of view, even when the answer is uncomfortable.

  • You will be able to see the work and the results, not just hear that people are busy.

  • You will feel that your hiring problem matters to the people working on it.

Credentials open the door. Performance keeps it open.

Being veteran-led and holding respected credentials are things we are proud of. They are not the reason a client should renew a partnership. The reason should be that MBS did what it said it would do, communicated clearly, and created measurable value.

That is a standard we can actually be held accountable to.

If you're evaluating MBS as a partner, see how that standard translates into our Dental Workforce Infrastructure and Cleared Talent Solutions.
